Up Close & Personal

On Decemeber 10, 1984, I,  Ryan Wayne Dunaway was born in Birmingham, AL.  I lived a pretty normal childhood. (I guess it was normal to me.) I was raised by my grandparents, my biological mother died when I was eight; I never really knew her. I never met my biological father, he now lives in Michigan somewhere. I changed my name from Ryan Wayne Dunaway, to Ryan Ashton Taylor when I was 13, trying to find myself.  (I was always different.)  For a long time, since I can remember, I struggled to find out my sexuality.  Althought I tried to supress it,  I knew in my heart from the age of 11, that I was gay.  When my grandmother fell ill after 17 long years fighting cancer, (I took care of her for her last two years), she passed away.  That was a turning point in my life, I grew up, and I realized how it felt when someone I loved, died. I was 18 years old, and three months later I moved out on my own.  Performing came into my life as a Thursday night dare.  I never really thought about drag before that.  I thought drag was Rupaul or Cher.  I was from a small town and things like drag were never presented to me.  My first time on stage someone else painted my face, I didn't have hip pads, nails, and I was dressed in fish clothes.. but you couldn't have told me that I wasn't real.  I look back now(OMG was I ROTTED!!) but you have to start somewhere.  It was around this time when I met Joe.  It was a Thursday night and I was so excited.  I just had learned Madonna's "Vogue"and did it in the show that night. After the show my friend, Mark590 introduced me to a guy named Joe.  Little did I know who Joe was.  Two years later and alot of transforming, and help from a few Big Names, Im still performing!!!!

I owe soooo much to Jordan Kennedy (my drag mother), without her help I would be lost.  We have been through alot together in a short number of years.  From ruthless cheating boyfriends, to performing in different states together, to her in a national pageant! (OMG.. all of the fun and not so fun memories!)  Thank you Jordan for all you have done, and things still to come in the future!

About a year ago, another AMAZING person came into my life.  A big girl from Nashville, named Racquel Scott.  The first time I saw her in a show I was blown away!  Although she is a big girl, the bitch can dance the house down!  If you dont know Rocky, you should!  She is such a funny, sweet, and great person to be around, and just to know. She is another person who has helped me become the entertainer I am today. She is my second mother!  Much love to you girl!

A Goddess, NO DOUBT! She has won many titles and has produced one of the most amazing entertaining shows in the drag world... from her Fire Act, to Lucy in the sky with diamonds, to her infamous Wonder Woman! Just by looking at her you feel drawn to her and the performance. I am proud to call her a family member!  I always learn soo much from you Raven. Forever a TRUE DIVA in my eyes!

From friends to not so good of friends... from entertainers to road trips... from shows to pageants, and everything in between with the help of these people and soooooo many many more, and with the support of friends, family, and fans you have me the Supermodel of the South!

WELCOME TO MY WORLD

AND TO ALL THAT IS IN IT!
